Your first visit
If your eyelids are causing problems with your vision, you may be referred to one of our oculoplastic surgeons for a consultation. Cosmetic or not, we can accomodate many different oculoplastic surgeries, depending on the individual patient's case.
For your initial visit, please be aware you may be in our office up to two hours. Although oculoplastic appointments usually do not require dilation, sometimes your doctor may see something they would like to further examine, and may request to dilate your eyes for a better picture, so please bring a driver just in case!
For appointments where a patient would like to discuss droopy eyelids (ptosis), your doctor may wish to order a visual field test first, to determine how much the eyelid obstructs your vision. This requires extra time, so please be aware.
Your doctor will take their time explaining any possible treatment, but if you would like to read further, please see our oculoplastics page for educational reading.
